Programs

Students in the Visual Arts Conservatory have the opportunity to participate in a variety of programs, competitions, and exhibits. For many of these events we rely on volunteers to donate their time and resources.

Young American Talent: The Visual Arts Guild is a proud host of the Young American Talent juried art competition. This annual event, typically held in the spring, provides North Texas high school students an opportunity to exhibit, compete with peers, and receive recognition in a professional gallery setting. Want to get involved? Parents are encouraged to volunteer, and the Visual Arts Guild appreciates the sponsors and donations who make this event a success.

National Art Honor Society: 10th-12th graders may apply for National Art Honor Society (NAHS). Applications are available in early October. NAHS students have opportunities for national recognition, scholarships, leadership experience, and connectivity to 50,000+ outstanding arts students worldwide are available to members of an NAHS or NJAHS chapter.

Guild Grants: The Visual Arts Guild provides annual grants to students of guild members. Grants must be applied to school projects and requests must be signed by the appropriate art teacher. Students can review the grant request form for all the details.

Senior Scholarships: The Visual Arts Guild provides five, $1,500 scholarships to eligible students. The student must have an intended, dedicated college major in art, art conservation, art education, architecture, communication design, or art history AND be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours in their freshman year. Either the student or a parent must be a member of the guild during each of the student's four years at BTW.

Showcase: Senior Showcase is an annual event held in late November that gives seniors in all conservatories the opportunity to meet with college reps to showcase their talents. Each conservatory relies on volunteers to help host the representatives, and provide hospitality to our students, faculty and guests.

Portfolio Day: This event is unique to the Visual Arts Conservatory. At this fall event, college reps from across the country come to campus to view student portfolios and talk with students about post-BTW plans. The guild provides hospitality to our guests and faculty during this important event.

Senior Exhibits: Students participate in a series of exhibits during their senior year. At each exhibit the guild hosts a free reception open to all to recognize and celebrate our seniors.

Student Exhibits: Students exhibit continuously in the Hudson Gallery on the BTW campus. The guild assists faculty with these exhibits when needed and also hosts an opening reception, open to all students, families and supporters.

Visual Arts Market: The Visual Arts Market is a popular annual event where Visual Arts students set up booths and sell their art and wares. Thi2 2023 market was December 13-15.

North Texas Giving Day: NTX Giving Day is an annual community giving event that serves as one of the guild's largest fundraisers. Students are encouraged to provide testimonials to encourage donations, and all parents, students and supporters are welcome to create individual giving campaigns to support the guild and the conservatory. The 2024 date is September 21.

If you are a parent or guardian, we hope you'll consider supporting an event. We appreciate your time and resources - no job or donation is too small!

If you are a business, community member or supporter of the arts, we welcome your financial support. Please reach out if you or someone you know is interested in sponsoring the Visual Arts Guild.
