Submission Guidelines & Key Dates
Entry fee
- $7 per piece. Each student may submit up to three entries.
Categories

Animation, ceramics, digital media, drawing - black & white, drawing - color, fiber, jewelry, mixed media, painting & watercolor, photography, printmaking, and sculpture

All works must be titled and the category must be specified (i.e., jewelry or mixed media).
- To submit animation, please create a YouTube video for your animation piece and a QR code to get to the video. For your submission, upload your QR code so the judges can easily pull up your video.
Art size limits

2-D art must measure no larger than 36 inches x 36 inches.
- 3-D pieces must not exceed 36 inches in any dimensions, including stand or base.
General guidelines
- Submissions are only accepted from current high school students.
- All works must be original and must have been completed on or after January 2023. Works must not have been completed more than one year ago.
- Work will be submitted online. Please submit a high quality picture of the artwork.
- Artwork depicting drugs and violence will not be accepted.
- The juried artwork will be dropped off at Booker T. Washington High School on May 4, 2024, and hang in the Hudson Gallery at Booker T. Washington High School from May 8-May 18. Only the original piece of art will be hung. No prints will be accepted.
- Any copies of another student’s work are unacceptable.
- Collaborative works are acceptable but must be properly identified by listing all artists involved.
- The gallery and YAT will make the final determination that work meets the submission requirements to be included in the exhibition.
Key dates
- December 1, 2023 – March 1, 2024: Online submissions accepted.
- March 19, 2024: Students will be notified by email and posted on the website if they are finalists and juried into the show.
- May 4, 2024: Juried in art will be dropped off at Booker T. Washington High School's Hudson Gallery located at 2501 Flora Street to be hung in the show.
- May 8 – May 18, 2024: The exhibit will hang in the gallery.
- May 9, 2024: The reception is from 6-8 p.m. Awards will be announced at 7 p.m.
- May 18, 2024: All art will be picked up from the gallery.
