Augustus Owen Salon Series*
Description
Visual Arts students are invited to the first event in the Augustus Owen Salon Series featuring Los Angeles-based artist Umar Rashid. Rashid’s art chronicles the fictional Frenglish Empire (1648–1880), blending real and imagined histories. His works, influenced by hip hop, pop culture, and revolutionary movements, explore race, gender, and power through detailed narratives and interconnected characters, responding to each exhibition’s location. The event is in Booker T's Black Box Theatre (second floor of the Historic Building). Doors open at 6 p.m. and the artist talk begins at 6:30 p.m. Students earn crew hours for attending. RSVP online to reserve your seat and record your attendance.
