Good afternoon Visual Arts students, parents and supporters! We interrupt your summer break with some updates and announcements.

PEGASUS PICK UP

In our last newsletter we included the dates for our annual registration/orientation event Pegasus Pick Up. UPDATE - the dates of PPU are still July 30, July 31 and August 1, but administration has not confirmed which class attends which day. Incoming freshmen (Class of 2029) will attend PPU and Flight School on August 1 but dates for 10th-12 grade students have not been confirmed. Make sure you are receiving the PTSA newsletter for the latest information.

If you want to avoid some lines at PPU or you can't make it, you can do some things online now:

  • Join the Visual Arts Guild: Memberships start at $25.
  • Pay the supply fee: The Visual Arts Guild collects a $25 supply fee on behalf of the Visual Arts Conservatory to help ensure classrooms have supplies for the variety of classes available to our students including drawing, painting, fibers, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, welding, printmaking, 2D and 3D design.
CLASS OF 2026 / SENIORS

REMINDER: Seniors sit for yearbook photos AND conservatory headshots.

Senior yearbook photos will be taken on campus July 29 - August 1. Students have a 10-minute session and immediately select TWO required photos for the yearbook - a portrait and a personality pose. You can bring a prop or props for your personality photos (no animals allowed). You'll receive a gallery link by email within two weeks to purchase portraits from your session. To schedule your senior yearbook photo, visit the website of photographer Angela Navarette

Visual Arts seniors will sit for conservatory headshots after we go back to school. Visual Arts conservatory headshots are posted on the senior wall and used throughout the year in social media and at senior exhibits, Showcase, Portfolio Day, and senior dinner.

SUPPORT THE HUDSON GALLERY

As you may know, many of the gallery walls in the Hudson Gallery are in disrepair. Rather than provide temporary painting and patching, we would like to build custom walls that would not only be an optimal backdrop for our students' work, they would be easier to move and reconfigure to accommodate all exhibits and events. (If you've ever moved one of the gallery walls, you know.)

To raise the required funds, we are launching a unique opportunity to 'own' a small part of the Hudson Gallery. For a $500 donation, an engraved metallic plaque with your inscription will be attached to a new gallery wall. All sponsors will be recognized (as requested) on our website, in our newsletter and at a reception during the 2025-26 school year.

Visit the Visual Arts Guild website for more details and to secure your sponsorship.

ELSEWHERE

The Oak Cliff Art Walk is a community-driven event that gives local artists the chance to showcase their work in a nontraditional space - completely free of gallery costs or fees. If your work sells, you keep 100% of the profit! Submissions are open July 29 - August 7. Visit the Oak Cliff Assembly on Instagram for more information.
