Good morning Visual Arts parents, students and supporters!

The school year may be winding down but the BTW calendar is full all the way through May 31. Here are some important dates for Visual Arts students.

DATES AND REMINDERS

Monday, April 29 is the last day for seniors to buy reduced price Prom tickets. Full-price tickets will be open to juniors and seniors from April 30-May 10.

Tuesday, April 30 is the last day to apply for the PTSA Summer Scholarship. This scholarship provides $500 to eligible students to help pay for an art or academic class, workshop or intensive. The only application requirements are that the student and parent must be current PTSA members; the applicant must be a current 9-11th grader and have a cumulative GPA of at least 80; and the applicant must provide proof of acceptance or enrollment in the program.

Wednesday, May 1 senior students have a mandatory meeting during Flex in the MAT and senior parents have a virtual meeting at 6 p.m. The link will be sent via Remind or School Messenger.

Friday, May 3 there is no school!

Friday, May 3 is the deadline for seniors to apply for the Visual Arts Senior Scholarship. Check the online application for eligibility requirements and apply before May 3.

Saturday, May 4 we will need volunteers to help collect Young American Talent artworks at BTW from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. If you can help at any time, please drop by the Hudson Gallery on Saturday.

Monday, May 6 - Friday, May 10 is Faculty Appreciation Week at BTW. The PTSA is hosting events on Monday and Friday. We'll be providing our faculty with treats and gift cards based on their Faculty Favorites lists. If you would like to make a financial contribution toward Faculty Appreciation events, you can donate in any amount on the Visual Arts Guild website

Thursday, May 9 is the Young American Talent reception in the Hudson Gallery from 6-8 p.m. The awards ceremony will be at 7 p.m. We expect a large crowd for this reception because the student artists come from high schools all across North Texas. We need volunteers to help set up, restock refreshments, and clean up. Students and parents are encouraged to volunteer.

Monday, May 13 is the first half day for seniors. Check the PTSA's Class of 2024 page for details on end-of-year events.

Tuesday, May 14 is the final PTSA meeting of the school year at 6 p.m. in the Commons.

Saturday, May 18 is the day Young American Talent artists pick up their artwork. Volunteers are needed to help return artwork on campus between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Tuesday, May 21 is the Visual Arts Senior Dinner. Seniors, be sure to RSVP before May 10. Parents, please upload a baby photo of your student. We also welcome photos of students, artwork and events that we can share in the slideshow at the dinner. 9-11th grade Visual Arts students - we typically need 2-4 student volunteers to help during dinner (approximately 7-8 p.m.). Email btwvisualarts@gmail.com if you can help.

Friday, May 24 is the last day of classes.

RENEW YOUR SPONSORSHIP

Current members, we hope you'll renew your membership in the guild for the 2024-25 school year. All our members receive our weekly newsletter, but with a sponsorship (starting at just $25), you'll have access to the online directory, receive guild merch, and your student will be eligible for a $150 Visual Arts grant and the $1,500 senior scholarship.

As a reminder, we do not have ticketed events so sponsorships provide the majority of funding for the receptions and events we host, the grants and scholarships we award, and the support we provide our faculty. Every dollar you contribute directly benefits our students and faculty.

BECOME A SUSTAINING SPONSOR

If you or someone you know is interested in a sustaining sponsorship, you can refer to the Visual Arts Guild website for details or email btwvisualarts@gmail.com. Our sustaining sponsors receive a variety of perks and promotion at our events in exchange for their sponsorship.
