Good afternoon Visual Arts parents, students and supporters! A few updates, reminders and announcements for the week of April 8. 

EVENTS AND PERFORMANCES

Senior Show #4 is on display in the Hudson Gallery. The free opening reception is Thursday, April 18 from 5-7 p.m.

FLYINGHORSE is the Advisory Board's annual BTW fundraiser. $10 preview tickets to the 6 p.m. show on Friday, April 19 are available. The event typically sells out so get your tickets today.

The April PTSA meeting is Tuesday, April 9 at 6 p.m. in the Commons. We do not have a guild meeting this month. PTSA members are encouraged to attend Tuesday's meeting, as members will vote on the proposed slate of officers for the 2024-25 school year.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

April 12, Creations: Creations is the last cross-conservatory production of the 2023-24 school year. Volunteers are needed to help feed the kids before rehearsals and the performance, and to sell merchandise and concessions at the show. Creations is a fundraiser for the Class of 2027. Proceeds from the show will go toward the Class of 2027 senior funds. Freshmen parents and students are encouraged to volunteer.

April 13, I Am Booker T Day: Both the PTSA and the Visual Arts Guild have volunteer opportunities on Saturday, April 13. The PTSA needs volunteers as early as 7:30 to help set up breakfast. The Visual Arts Guild needs volunteers from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Parents and students can volunteer together.

Thursday, April 18, Senior Show Reception: The final senior show of the school year is now on display. The opening reception will be Thursday, April 18 from 5-7 p.m. Volunteers and refreshment donations are always appreciated.

May, Young American Talent: The exhibit will be on display May 6-18. The reception and awards ceremony is Thursday, May 9 from 6-8 p.m. We will need volunteers on Saturday, May 4 when students drop off artwork. We will also need volunteers May 4-8 to help hang the exhibit. If you can help, please email YAT Committee Chair Kay Wood.

STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES

Check out the updated digital call board for information on art contests, workshops, scholarships and programs. Coming up - Baccalaureate artwork, Advisory Board Scholarship and Visual Arts Senior Scholarship (seniors only), Nasher Summer Institute for Teens, I Am Texas art contest, and PTSA Summer Scholarships.

Underclassmen! We need your help at the senior dinner on Tuesday, May 21. We need 3-4 students who can help set up, decorate and serve dinner. Email btwvisualarts@gmail.com if you are interested in helping in any capacity from 4:30-8:30 p.m.

SENIORS

The Visual Arts Senior Dinner will be Tuesday, May 21 in the Hudson Gallery. RSVP before May 10. Upload your photos before Sunday, May 19. Parents - please send a baby photo of your student. Please label your uploads with your student's name so we can properly attribute the photos.

Can you design a Pegasus logo? The Senior Activities Committee is looking for a Pegasus logo to feature on the Baccalaureate program. Submit your design by April 15. (Seniors only please.)

The Visual Arts Scholarship application is now open. To be eligible, either the student or a parent/guardian must be guild members. Contact us to confirm your membership and apply before April 26.
