BOOKER T LIVE

It's not too late to get tickets for tonight's Booker T Live event sponsored by the Advisory Board. Student rush tickets are just $10. There will be music, food, beverages and several Visual Arts student vendors too!

ART OF THE GUITAR

16 BTW students are participating in the Foundation 45 “Art of the Guitar” event on Saturday, October 21 to raise funds for mental health counseling services and destigmatize mental health issues, addiction, and suicide. The guitars will be part of a live auction at 6 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

COLLEGE SHOWCASE

College Showcase is Thursday and Friday, November 16-17. There are many ways to volunteer to support this important and fun event. Check out the sign up or email committee chair Christy Black with questions.

STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES

Texas Young Masters: This program awards $5,000 grants to young artists to further their studies in their chosen field. The application is due November 1. Visit the website for more details.

PTA Reflections: The National PTA Reflections program is open through November 12. The theme is "I Am Hopeful Because ..." Students can submit work in any or all of these categories: dance choreography, film production, Literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts. Students do not need to create a new piece of art. Look through your portfolio and find something that fits the theme. We had several regional winners and a national winner last year.

Visual Arts Winter Market: Shop the Visual Arts Winter Market from 12:45-1:40 p.m. on December 13-15. Vendors will be on the Zero Floor or Green Room (weather permitting) to sell handmade goods. This is a great opportunity for student vendors to create gifts for the holiday season and make some cash to do some shopping of your own! We will have a raffle, Winter Market specific VA merch and so much more. To participate students need to complete an application by November 10.

YOUNG AMERICAN TALENT VOLUNTEERS

The Visual Arts Guild is proud to host the Young American Talent juried art competition for North Texas students. We need lots of volunteers for Young American Talent and there are a wide variety of opportunities - work from home, volunteer on campus, deliver posters and invitations, hang artwork, volunteer at the reception. Volunteers are needed from October through May. Email committee chair Kay Wood if you can help with data entry or delivering materials to participating schools in October and November.

NEXT GUILD MEETING

The PTSA meets on Wednesday, November 8 at 6 p.m. in the BTW Commons. Please note, there is no school on Tuesday, November 7 due to Election Day.

The Visual Arts Guild does not have a November meeting. Our next meeting is Tuesday, December 12 in the BTW Commons following the PTSA at 6 p.m.
