SENIOR HEADSHOTS

Seniors, the online gallery is now available at https://nickibehm.shootproof.com/btwhsvisualarts2023. Please look through your gallery and choose one BLACK AND WHITE photo for the Visual Arts Guild to use on the senior wall. "Buy" your photo by either clicking on it and then clicking the 'buy photo' button in the upper right or clicking the shopping bag icon at the bottom right of the photo. To redeem your ONE free photo use the promo code GALLERYWALL when you check out.

Once you have downloaded your photo, please email it with your name as you want it to appear on the wall to btwvisualarts@gmail.com

Please send your photo no later than Friday, September 22 so we can install the photos the following week. If we don't receive a photo from you by end of day Friday, September 22, we will select one for you.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Portfolio Day: October and November are two of our busiest months. In October the Visual Arts Conservatory and Guild host Portfolio Day. College and university representatives will be at the school to review student portfolios. Volunteers are needed to donate items and volunteer on campus on Monday, October 2. There will be 1-2 planning meetings prior to the event. Look for more details next week.

Senior Showcase: Showcase is a multi-day event where we welcome college and university representatives and speakers to campus to review student portfolios and teach master classes. Volunteers are needed to donate items, decorate, serve meals, and provide hospitality. This year's Showcase is Thursday and Friday, November 16-17. Look for more details soon.

Senior Portraits: We need two volunteers to coordinate printing and hanging of the portraits on the senior wall. All materials will be provided.

Young American Talent: The Visual Arts Guild is proud to host Young American Talent, a juried art competition for North Texas students. Volunteers will be needed the first week of November to help distribute invitations. Look for more details soon.

NORTH TEXAS GIVING DAY

Early giving for NTX Giving Day started September 1. The 18-hour fundraiser starts Thursday, September 21. It is currently our largest fundraiser so please help spread the word. Share our link on your social media and help us reach our goal of $10,000.

STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES

The deadline for the Bath House Cultural Center's Dia de Muertos Exhibit is Monday, September 17. Check the online call board for more opportunities.

SMU College Fair: SMU is hosting a Performing and Visual Arts College Fair on Tuesday, September 19 from 7-9 p.m. This free come-and-go event gives prospective undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to speak with representatives from top schools from across the country. Visit the website for details and a list of attending schools. Registered students will receive a parking pass.

PTA Reflections: The National PTA Reflections program opens October 15. The theme is "I Am Hopeful Because ..." Students can submit work in any or all of these categories: dance choreography, film production, Literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts. Students do not need to create a new piece of art. Look through your portfolio and find something that fits the theme. We had several regional winners and a national winner last year.

Visual Arts Winter MarketShop the Visual Arts Winter Market from 12:45-1:40 p.m. on December 13-15. Vendors will be on the Zero Floor or Green Room (weather permitting) to sell handmade goods. This is a great opportunity for student vendors to create gifts for the holiday season and make some cash to do some shopping of your own! We will have a raffle, Winter Market specific VA merch and so much more. To participate students need to complete an application by November 10.

NEXT GUILD MEETING

Our next guild meeting is Tuesday, October 10 following the PTSA meeting at 6 p.m.

In lieu of a September meeting, please join us at Art on Main on Tuesday, September 26 for a guild social! Get details and directions and RSVP on the Visual Arts Guild website.
