Good afternoon Visual Arts parents, students and supporters! Here's a quick rundown on events and news for next week. 

TODAY is the last day for students to submit artwork for the African American Heritage Festival. See the PTSA website for all the details. The application form closes tonight at 11:59 p.m.

Thursday, January 25 is the opening reception for Super Nova, Senior Show #1, from 5-7 p.m. in the Hudson Gallery. We need 1-2 volunteers to help set up and restock refreshments and clean up. Most of our reception committee volunteers are senior parents so we would love underclassmen volunteers. Parents and students are welcome to sign up.

Friday, January 26 is the opening reception for Juan Cruz's solo exhibit at Art on Main. There is a private reception from 5-6 p.m. for Visual Arts Guild members. There is a public reception from 6-9 p.m. with an artist talk at 6:30 p.m. There will be drinks and light bites. The event is free, but please register if you plan to attend.

March 1 is the deadline for students to submit work for Young American Talent. Booker T. students can waive the application fee for up to three pieces with the code DISD2024.
